About Ms. Smith

Greetings! My name is Ms. Smith and I am so excited to be the Dean of Students at Tindley Genesis for the 2021-2022 school year! I will mostly be handling student discipline at Genesis.
I was born in South Bend, Indiana 32 years ago and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am a proud product of the Indianapolis Public Schools system from Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade, where I graduated from Emmerich Manual High School. I attended Ball State University and received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2012. After teaching for 8 years, I then attended Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and received my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership in 2019.
I have taught in both private and public school settings. I have taught Kindergarten, First, and Third grade. This is my second year in Tindley as the Dean and I am humbled to be here, where I can grow more and focus on student success. Student achievement on the Eastside of Indianapolis is important to me because it's a community of hope and I desire to continue to invest in a community that I value.
In my free time, I enjoy attending WNBA basketball games with my partner (GO Indiana Fever!), riding my bicycle, walking outdoors, painting, and playing with my puppy. I am also a first-time homebuyer and enjoy every bit of it!
I am beyond thrilled to work with the caregivers, families, scholars, and staff at Tindley! This is going to be an awesome school year! :)
